Happy Holiday Weekend, everyone!
I've got some GREAT news I wanted
to share with you before I get it out in a press release: my new project
for charity, ROCKFESSIONS, has just been officially adopted by ST. JUDES!!!
After some extra time taken and extra care put in by our team and the wonderful
folks at St. Judes Children's Research Hospital, we've all come to the
conclusion that my new project is an EXCELLENT way to help the deserving
children at St. Judes... and express your creativity at the same time!
Before I met with the folks at St. Judes, I knew that they did incredible
work for children and their families fighting cancer (their motto is 'No
Child Is Turned Away' EVER... for their inability to pay. Incredible.)....
but I did NOT know that a full 85% of all money raised goes straight to
helping the kids directly... instead of being swallowed up by 'administration
costs'... that blew my mind.
For EACH and EVERY Rockfession
sent in to us, I will personally donate $1 to St. Judes. As we build critical
mass with the avalanche of incredible submissions that I just know are
going to come in (I've been bragging about how creative you all are!) I
will be gaining the support of all of NELSON and SCRAP METAL's corporate
endorsers (companies like Gibson, Fender, Paul Reed Smith, and Martin Guitars,
Audio Technica Microphones, DW Drums, Monarchy Clothing, Apple Computers,
etc.) to contribute monthly prizes and annual grand prizes... and I'm going
to dare them ALL to each match my contributions dollar for dollar.
Imagine what we can accomplish
with such little effort! All it takes is a sliver of your time, a pinch
of your creativity, and a common 4x6 post card.
And this is merely the beginning
of the good that's going to come from this...
We're also going to put musical
instruments into the hands of children who need music in their lives through
Little Kids Rock, an organization that's been doing it BETTER than VH1's
'Save the Music' foundation.
I can't tell you how excited I
am about this. Now, I know... I know... I had a false start with this project...
but it was only because I had a vision from jump to make it as big and
powerful as possible... and I needed some extra time in order to pave the
way for the positivity parade. Well, the way is now set... the vehicle
has been clearly defined... and now, it's all up to YOU. What do you say?
What's that? What do YOU get out
of it, rather than a fleeting good feeling (just check out the St. Judes
website if you want to feel REALLY good about what you'll be doing!)? ...
well, that's easy:
Each and every month, we'll be
giving away REALLY cool prizes for the best submissions for that month
in several categories. I'm serious. I mean prizes like IPODs for crying
out loud. And that's just the beginning. New prizes are being added all
the time as this thing snowballs. Then, at the end of the year, we're going
to be giving GRAND PRIZES away to the best of the best... stuff like GUITARS,
Clothing, Concert Tickets... the works.
So, what IS a 'Rockfession'? All
of the answers are up on the Rockfessions website. Check it out, and GET
INVOLVED! We want to... no... we NEED to hear from you. I've already sent
in MY rockfession (it's the one that says "I'm Still Pissed At Yoko") and
you can see what other creative maniacs have already sent in... and, well...
THEY ROCK. See for yourselves:
www.rockfessions.com.
THE SITE WILL EXPLAIN EVERYTHING
YOU NEED TO KNOW.
Please check out the site. I'll
be posting all of the updates about all things ROCKFESSIONS as they happen...
and things are happening fast... so please stay connected... and SPREAD
THE WORD to everyone you know who wants to help out a sweet kid who needs
the help (or anyone who wants to win an IPod... either way, it's all good:)
).
I can't tell you how appreciative
I'll be.
Please don't hesitate to let us
know your thoughts... you can get in touch with me directly right through
the rockfessions site.
Have a great long, relaxing weekend...
you deserve it!
I'm going to be going on a three
day Harley tour of the Grand Canyon with some friends who also ride...
I'll be sending you good vibes from one of the World's Wonders... and my
gratitude for helping me see this whole Rockfessions dream through to fruition.
Thanks for your patience... and thanks even more for your support!
As Always... 'Love and Affection'
Gunnar
