Being
a PA for this little Iowa girl was a dream come true! Fans of Gunnar and
Matthew since 1989, who'd of thought I would evermeet let alone PA for
one of them! After seeing them in What Cheer, Iowa in August, it was my
mission!
On February
3rd after months of waiting I finally got my chance! Wow, was it ever worth
the wait! First of all the Surf Ballroom is an amazing place, so full
of history
and seems to hold a special place in the guys hearts since their
grandparents
and father played there as well.
I had the
pleasure of being a PA along side Miss Sue Finestead. Couldn't have
asked for
a better person to share this experience with! We had a blast! Plus since
she had done it before I knew I was with a pro!
The show went
off without a hitch. The guys put on a rockn' show and the crowd loved
them! People from 21 to 81 were there. Gunnar and Matthew charm ladies
ofall ages! After the show the guys barely had time to take a breath then
it was off to sign autographs and pose for pictures with fans. The line
seemed endless. Matthew and Gunnar never complaining took as much time
as needed with each person.
Back at the
hotel Tami very graciously took pictures of us with her camera, since my
and Sues cameras both of all nights crapped out on us! Bummer! Tami is
an absolute sweetheart and super accomidating with the PAs. She is a major
kick to hang with!
Since it was
8 degrees in the great state of Iowa that night, we decided to go to Perkins
for soup. We were a bit bummed cause they were out of soup, although Gunnar
did generously offer to go to the kitchen and make some for us! What a
guy! Being able to sit and talk with the guys was so fun and interesting!
Having a coughing fit from running across the parking lot in the cold weather,
Dr. Gunnar diagnoised that I may have asthmaand healed me with his inhaler.
Thank you Gunnar! After his work was done he was off to get rested up for
the show the next night.
I learned
so much from Sue and Matthew who were discussing Paul MaCartney. Both are
very big fans! We talked for quite some time and then it was time to call
it a night. I want to thank Gunnar, Matthew and Tami for a very fun and
exciting weekend! Also I do not want to leave out Cary! He rocks! What
a cool guy! I will cherish this experience forever and truely look forward
to next time!
