My
PA experience is something I will never forget. I arrived at the House
of Blues a little late due to the fact I had to fly from San Diego. The
earliest I could get to Cleveland was at 3:00 pm. I was very lucky to have
the other PA (Stacey Hilmer) pick me up at the airport and drive me to
the hotel. After changing my outfit, I was off to meet Tami, Matt, Gun,
and Stacey at the venue. This is where the fun began....I arrived to find
Matt and Gun getting ready for their sound check. Matthew greeted me with
a big hug and I was off to find Tami and Stacey. I had no idea how much
effort it takes to get everything just perfect for the sound check. It
takes a lot of time and patience to make sure everything is audibly pristine!
After the guys
finished their tedious sound check, Stacey and I sat down with Matthew
to assist him with the set list. Matt asked for our input on what songs
we wanted to hear. It was so cool, because he really took our thoughts
into consideration and added some of our favorites. Before Matthew left
to get changed, he asked what he should wear during the show. Of course,
we happily gave him our input and he sweetly enough took our advice. While
the guys were gone to get ready, Stacey and I put the set list everywhere
they needed to be in the venue, made sure the guys had water and towels,
and lastly psyched ourselves for the show. Once we completed all the duties
Tami asked of us- - -we were on our own to enjoy the show. As far as I
am concerned, each show gets better each time I see Matt and Gunnar play. They
seem to get stronger and better with every show. I was completely blown
away by how good they sounded at the HOB. However, all good things must
come to an end. After the guys rocked the house for over 75 minutes, Stacey
and I escorted them back to the meet and greet area. We helped Tami sell
everything from photos to DVD's. I was impressed with the number of people
buying all the great merchandise that was offered at the venue. That was
the longest meet and greet line I have ever seen. From my best recollection,
I believe the guys stood there for over an hour and a half. It was amazing
to see their fans eagerly awaiting to meet Matt and Gun. After the meet
and greet, we went back stage to bid Tami, Matt and Gun our appreciation
for allowing us the opportunity to assist them with the show. I got to
take photos with the guys and also got them to sign my "All Access Pass".
We hung around for a little bit longer while Tami had them sign merchandise
for upcoming events. This is where I took advantage of getting my hugs
from Matt and Gun! These guys are two of the sweetest individuals I have
ever met and they truly love their fans. I feel so blessed to have being
given this opportunity. For any fans considering being a P.A., grab the
chance if possible. It was one of the best times I have ever had. Tami
makes you feel so comfortable and at ease. When the opportunity presents
itself again......I will be the first one there volunteering. Thanks again
Tami, Matt and Gun for a very memorable evening!!! |
